ADULT EDUCATION
The United Jewish Congregation of Hong
Kong (UJC) was founded in 1988 "to advocate the cause of Reform,
Liberal, Conservative, and other non-Orthodox Jews in Hong Kong" and
to encourage their participation in Jewish life to the fullest. We
are a warm, welcoming, vibrant congregation, with adults and children
actively engaged in all aspects of the community
"Talmud Torah Ki Neged Kulam: The study of Torah is equal to
all of the commandments for it leads to all
of them!"

INTERMEDIATE HEBREW
CLASS
Requirements : Basic vocabulary, the ability
to structure basic sentences, and motivation.
Our
program for year 5766 has ended. The love
for Hebrew will continue next year.

WOMEN'S BAT MITZVAH CLASS

Did you always want to read from the Torah but never
had the chance, or the courage?
Do you want to learn about the role of
women in Judaism from a traditional and a progressive
perspective?
Can you pass up this opportunity to explore
your Jewish heritage and your sense of spirituality
with other women?
Join the UJC’s Women’s Bat Mitzvah Class
and the spend the year preparing to make Aliya L’Torah
during the Torah reading ceremony on Shavuot (2nd
June).
-- Bi-monthly classes on Jewish history, theology,
ethics,
beliefs, and values, with special sessions
on the role of
women.
-- “Mitzvah Projects” on your own and
with the group.
-- Required presentation of Dvar Torah
at Shabbat services on
the week of your Hebrew-calendar birthday,
or (alternatively)
leading the weekly UJC Torah study.
-- Individual tutoring to prepare for
Torah reading.
-- Participants are encouraged to travel
to Israel on the UJC
trip during Chanuka—special meetings with women’s
groups
in Israel.
